FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW SAFE AND SECURE ARE MY FIREARM FILES?

You have nothing to worry about. This program and it's data all stays securly in one folder, and you can run it all from a USB flash drive or portable drive (not included). When you are done viewing or updating data, simply pull it out.  You can take the flash drive with you, hide it in your sock, sleep with it under your pillow or whatever you want. NOTHING IS WRITTEN OR STORED ON ANY COMPUTER. It is safer and more secure than written records.

IS THIS PROGRAM HARD TO LEARN?

Nope! However it is very complete. You can decide how far you want to go with it. Just keep it for firearm records, or continue on with accessories, or add your ammo and maybe range records. The level you take it to is all up to you. There is both written help and training videos if you need them.

WHY SHOULD I KEEP RECORDS OF FIREARMS?

If you're a collector it goes without saying. If you're just a casual user you should have a secure record of all your firearms for the possibility of theft or fire and the sale of firearms.

WHY WOULD I WANT, OR NEED, THE PRO VERSION?

If you're a range shooter keeping accurate range records will give you a visual history of your progress, keep track of what ammo was shot with what firearm and how it performed and much more. If you're a hunter you can keep a visual record of your day along with accurate shooting records and bragging rights.

WHAT MAKES THIS PROGRAM SO DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS?

The ability not only to keep complete and accurate records of firearms but also of each any every box of ammo, all accessories, maintenance and repairs and contacts and, in the PRO and LITE versions, visual range records and, in the PRO version, visual history reports of your performance at the range or a day of hunting. Also in the PRO version you can tally target scores and view the history of any shooter with any firearm. Also in the PRO version you even have formulas to correct your sights and to visually compare performance between firearms. Nothing is more complete. ABSOLUTE POWER!

IS THE X-LITE VERSION JUST FOR BEGINNERS?

NOPE! It was designed to have power in many ways equal to the PRO version, but with the smaller, laptop screen size in mind and without range records. It's powerful. It's very powerful! The PRO does have more, and the X-LITE is easier to learn, but the X-LITE is no child's toy. The X-LITE does not have range records.

WHAT ABOUT BACKING UP MY FILES?

You can make all the backups you want and put them anywhere you want. Also, when a free update comes your way you can transfer all your data to the new program.

WHAT'S THE COST OF UPDATES?

ZERO! Regardless of what release is offered in either the PRO, LITE or the X-LITE, your updates for your version are FREE! Just register and you will be notified of our frequent updates.

WHAT ABOUT SUPPORT?

HOW DO I RECOVER DATA IF YOU CRASH AND DAMAGE FILES?

Power failures, hardware problems, or other factors can damage your database file.
If your database solution becomes damaged, you will need to recover the damaged file.
When the runtime application discovers a damaged file, a dialog box appears.
Even if the dialog box does not appear, files can become corrupted and exhibit erratic behavior.

To recover a damaged file:
•Press Ctrl+Shift while double-clicking the runtime application icon.
Hold the keys down until you see the Open Damaged File dialog box.

What to expect during the recovery process
During the recovery process, the runtime application:

•creates a new file
•renames any damaged file by adding Old to the end of the filenames (for example, DATABASE DATA is renamed to DATABASE DATA Old)
•gives the repaired file the original name

If you experience unusual behavior in the recovered files, then you should revert to a backup copy that was made before the file became corrupt.

1.Recover the damaged solution file using the method described above.
2.Open the recovered solution file in the runtime application.
3.Choose File menu > Save a Copy As.
4.In the dialog box, choose compacted copy (smaller) from the Save as list, name the file, and click Save.
Give the compacted file the same filename as the original file.
5.Make a copy of the original database and import the data from the recovered file into it.

HELP AVOID PROBLEMS! MAKE BACKUPS OF THE FILE: DATABASE DATA.fmpur. That file holds ALL your data. We can replace the application but not your data.
